Eat Together

Snack time is an important part of our Early Years session. The children will be provided with a mid-session snack by the National School Fruit Scheme and with milk or water.

It is a social time when adults and children sit at a table together to talk and share their fruit and milk.

At home children should experience this social aspect of mealtimes daily, where the family come together to eat and share conversation. This when the children learn table manners by observing and copying.

Please encourage your child to try different foods in a very relaxed way, don't force children to eat new foods but gently encourage by trying yourself and using positive language. Use verbal praise when the child does try the food.
Don't expect your child to sit at the table for too long, but by engaging the child with conversation and praise the time will pass more quickly for them.
