Encourage children in their large movement by taking them for lots of interesting walks, dancing with them, giving them opportunities to climb safely, ride wheeled toys and visiting the park.
Children's smaller movements should be developed through manipulating small equipment such as threading activities, sewing cards, drawing and painting materials, balls, beanbags, construction sets and jigsaw puzzles.
Tip - Do allow your child to use children's safety scissors during supervised play. Letting them cut play dough into pieces is a good way to start.
(Nursery children need a pair of pumps in school, Reception -a P.E. kit which they will be required to get on and off independently.)
