Learn Together

Story time is important for young children. Try to create a relaxed and calm atmosphere in which to share books, talk about the stories and encourage children to make comments, ask questions and express feelings.

Have a special time for playing games together. The game should be simple and short in duration. Young children love games where they match and sort and this is a great way to learn about colours and shapes.

Do jigsaw puzzles with your child, supporting them in finding pieces and how they fit together. Always talk about the pictures when the puzzle is completed.

Tip - Young children will only be able to concentrate for short periods of time, make sure the game is appropriate for your child's needs.
